What I’ve been working on at Hitachi Rail
What I can show here is only a small slice of the work... NDA.
My Role
Product & Innovation Designer
I design and pilot emerging products and experiences across physical interfaces, digital systems, and operational environments. I work across the full design process, from research and problem framing to interaction design, prototyping, and validation, collaborating closely with engineering, product, business, and operational teams.
My Team
Rail Innovation + Emerging Technologies
I work within an innovation team exploring how emerging technologies can become useful, deployable experiences in rail. We work across hardware, software, and operational workflows, prototyping everything from multimodal fare validation and AI-enabled gates to digital twins and simulation environments. Much of the work starts as a question, then becomes a prototype, a test, and ultimately a solution ready for production.
Adaptve Ticket Vending Machine
Product lead, UX
This project redefines the Ticket Vending Machine from a transaction-focused kiosk into an intelligent service touchpoint within the rail ecosystem. By leveraging user recognition, contextual awareness, and adaptive service flows, the solution reduces friction, accelerates common journeys, and delivers targeted support when passengers need it most.
Intent-Recognition Multi-Modal Bus Validator
Product lead, UX, Industrial design
Led solution strategy and end-to-end product design for a next-generation fare validation system integrating facial recognition, UWB, QR and NFC. Defined intent-recognition logic and multimodal interactions to enable seamless, hands-free boarding while improving validation accuracy and passenger experience.
VLM-Enabled Video Analytics for Train Operators
Product lead, UX
Developed a VLM-enabled monitoring platform organized around operational scenarios and a modular scenario detection library. The platform combines AI-powered scenario detection, camera tracking, evidence review, and explainable scene understanding to help operators quickly assess incidents and conduct investigations more efficiently.
